uniVersa Versicherungеn is an insurance group ofcompanieswith along tradition and extensive experience. Its origin goes back to 1843, the year in which uniVersa Krankenversicherung was founded – the oldest private health insurance company in Germany. The IT department of uniVersa Lebensversicherung a.G. has dealtintensively with the issue of network, access control in the interests of pre cau tion and security.

The UniVersa requirements:
- Without agents. Manufacturer-neutral solution, Enables the operation of existing network components (switches, routers, etc..
- A solution that works independently of the types of devices in the environment, such as printers, staff computers, picture readers and other specialized devices.
- Solution, that allows two endpoints (e.g. PCs and VoIP phones) to work on a single port.
- A solution that continues to work even when replacing individual components or entire systems.
- A solution where the internal communication between components is encrypted.
- A solution that supports open standards.
- Solution to be managed in mixed mode, and allow simultaneous authentication of end devices, using MAC addresses, certificates (802.1X) or other methods.
- The implemented system to be installed on a highly available and manageable virtual server, via a web-based graphical user interface (GUI).
- In the event of a system failure, the uniVersa workflow will not be affected.
- The system to allow phased entry with different modes of operation, e.g. " monitoringonly ","training","simulation" and"active".

The choice of solution:
Based on the extensive catalogue of requirements,, various manufacturers of the solutions for the network access con trol (NAC) present their products on uniVersa. German manufacturer macmon secure was ableto stand out thanks to its intelligently simple conceptandthe comparatively faster implementation of its NAC solution.
Purpose was clearly defined – the solution to be implemented directly into company-wideproductive operationafter a testphase is, success fully compli ted . –.
Implementation:
The implementation was completed successfully, via series of processes, including tuning of the virtual– appliance, integration of the system, configuration of the network for guest appliances (Guest Portal) and testing with multiple endpoint devices.
The project was completed in less time than planned: theteam of macmon estimated timech for test instalation (PoC) at 2 2 working days. Thecompletitionof the testphase took a period of – 4 weeks. The intuitive and user-friendly interface of macmon NAC played a key role in the process of decision – making during de ployn ment.. The quick response of the team of macmon to the requirements and the easy and direct coordination with the technical experts of the of the German manufacturer contributed to the smooth running of the process. The solution of macmon for network access control – – (NAC) was successfully deployed in the diverse envirounment of themultiple locations of uniVersa with relatively little effort.
We were surprised that it was possible to effectively introduce Network Access Control effectively within 5 project days.
